On 1739 (Sept. 9), a group of Christian Africans revolted against plantation tyranny. Their wonderful Revolution began a century before the Civil War—and decades before the Patriot’s declaration. Stono Rebels (genuine trailblazers) declared freedom from the rapacious empires of colonial power—setting off a wave of counter-slavery maroonage, and Native coalition: SC, GA, FL.
